Windsocks in the water and sewage industry

Windsocks are an essential safety tool in many situations and our previous blog posts have detailed some of the main industries where the use of a windsock is mandatory.  One of these industries is the water and sewage industry. At Windsock Company we  produce and supply our premium windsocks, masts, swivel systems and fixings to several water and sewage companies across the United Kingdom. Plus, we also supply 55 countries internationally, including Nigeria, United Arab Emirates and Malaysia to name a few.

Water and sewage treatment plants

Each site has a legal obligation to comply with COMAH regulations. Windsocks provide a cost effective and practical aid used to determine wind direction in the event of a chemical or bio hazard emergency. They are an essential part of the control of on site and off site emergencies and assist with the protection of persons and the environment.

Water purification process

Lime based products are used during the water purification process to soften and improve water quality. Lime dust can be an irritant if inhaled or comes in contact with eyes or skin.  This can become a hazard in high winds if lime dust is blown around the water treatment plant. Installing a windsock on site means staff can clearly see the direction of the wind and evacuate safely if required to.

We supply windsocks, windsocks masts and their necessary fixings to many water and sewage treatment plants here in the UK.  Our standard range of windsocks are available via our online shop. For bespoke orders or advice either email our team.or  call +44 (0) 1245 230 700
